Greater Latrobe’s Luke Pletcher helped the Ohio State University wrestling team hand previously-unbeaten Rutgers its first loss of the season, 22-13, on Saturday.
Earlier in the week, Ohio State handed No. 7 Arizona State its first loss before dispatching No. 24 Rutgers.
Pletcher started the match by recording his sixth major decision of the season. He scored early and often, handing JoJo Aragona a 12-4 loss.
Pletcher is 16-0 this season and ranked No. 1 at 141 pounds.
Reed Fenton, a Greater Latrobe graduate, scored 14 points in Lehigh University’s wire-to-wire men’s basketball win against American.
Fenton scored his 14 points on five field goals, including a three-pointer and three free throws. He also had a rebound and one assist in 28 minutes. Fenton’s three-pointer with 32 seconds to play gave Lehigh a 37-32 halftime lead.
Fenton, who scored a career-high 19 points against Loyola Maryland, had five rebounds and a steal in 24 minutes during a loss against Boston.
Also, former Greater Latrobe standout Austin Butler had a strong game for Holy Cross during its defeat against Bucknell.
Butler scored 17 points on six field goals and five free throws in 33 minutes. He pulled down two rebounds, while also totaling an assist and steal.
Austin’s brother Bryce Butler scored nine points in West Liberty’s big win against Glenville State. Butler had a trio of three-point field goals, three rebounds and four assists in 21 minutes. Butler had a three-pointer in 19 minutes during a victory against Concord. He also had four rebounds, five assists and a steal.
Marrek Paola, a former Ligonier Valley standout, scored two points in Seton Hill’s loss against the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team. he had three rebounds and a block in nine minutes.
Paola also had two points in a loss to Gannon. He hit a pair of free throws and pulled down two rebounds in seven minutes.
