Violet A. Selesky McIlnay, 91, of Latrobe died Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Bethlen Home, Ligonier Township, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 3, 1928, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Leo and Goldie (Piper) Selesky.
Prior to retirement, Violet worked for Greater Latrobe School District as a baker. She was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Violet will be greatly missed. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved God and her church, spending time with and cooking for her family, especially her homemade perogies and apple pie.
Besides her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband in 1989, Bernard Lester McIlnay; a son, Randy McIlnay; two sisters, Evie Gardner and Betty Onusko, and a brother, Leo Selesky.
Violet is survived by her three sons, Lester “Skip” McIlnay and wife Alison, Patrick McIlnay and wife Diane and Scott McIlnay and wife Yvonne; a brother, Frank Selesky and wife Ginny; 14 grand-children; 24 great-grand-children; a great-great grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Family will receive friends for Violet’s Life Celebration 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1325 Mission Road, Unity Township.
A funeral service will follow for Violet at 11 a.m. in the church with Pastor Bill Schaefer officiating.
Interment will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Youngstown.
The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements with Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc., 529 N. Chestnut St., Derry (724-694-8331).
