State police at Kiski Valley report no one was injured when a 1991 Mazda Miata driven by Noah D. Grace, 18, of Blairsville lost control on a dry roadway, spun twice and struck an embankment along Route 982 just north of 14th Street in Derry Township around 1:12 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. Grace, who was not wearing a seat belt, according to witnesses, was cited for not driving at a safe speed. Read more

State police at Indiana report no one was injured when a 2006 Ford Mustang driven by William R. Stein, 68, of Latrobe failed to stop at a stop sign on Route 403 in Buffington Township and was struck by a 2019 Ford F-150 driven by William R. Mardis, 45, of Vintondale as it entered Route 403 from Rexis Road around 9:46 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The F-150 then continued off the eastern berm and through a utility pole. Stein was cited for failing to obey stop signs and yield signs. Read more

State police at Indiana report Monty Gene Smith, 36, of Saltsburg was captured Thursday, Oct. 8, by the Pinellas County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office and held in Pinellas County Jail awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. Smith was charged Sept. 4 with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and three summary vehicle offenses following a traffic stop Aug. 31 in Indiana Borough. State police at Greensburg report an unknown suspect entered a store along Route 30 in Hempfield Township around 11:26 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, purchased cigarettes with cash and stole a wallet that had been left at the checkout counter before leaving the store and fleeing the scene. State police at Kiski Valley report one person suffered a possible injury when a 2016 Toyota Rav4 driven north on Indiana Avenue in Slickville, Salem Township, around 10:12 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, by Martha B. Persico, 66, of Jeannette struck a house after Persico pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. A passenger, Elizabeth Obradvich, 93, of Murrysville sustained minor injuries, police said. State police at Greensburg report troopers investigated a hit-and-run crash that occurred around 6:48 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at a parking lot at 117 Beatty County Road in Unity Township. According to police, a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu backed out of a parking space and struck a parked 2018 Toyota Yaris before leaving the scene. Police used surveillance video to identify the driver, who later admitted to striking the other vehicle and failing to report the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet was cited for driving on a suspended license, according to police. Read more

Jones Jr., 21, of Latrobe was arrested Sept. 10 for corruption of minors, indecent assault, indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age, furnishing liquor to minors and delivery of a controlled substance after police received a report of an incident involving a 15-year-old girl that allegedly occurred June 3 at Jones Jr.’s home on Ligonier Street in Latrobe. State police at Indiana report Tiffany Blattenberger, 30, of Black Lick was accused of drug possession after police allegedly found her under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of suspected marijuana on Main Street in Burrell Township at around 4:39 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14. Blattenberger was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center where she consented to a blood draw and was lodged in Indiana County Jail to await arraignment, according to police. Read more

State police at Indiana report a 42-year-old Blairsville man was accused of DUI after allegedly driving a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle without a motorcycle license, losing control of the motorcycle on gravel and crashing into a nearby home along Route 217 North in Black Lick Township around 9:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10. According to police, the man was transported by ambulance to Indiana Regional Medical Center and consented to a blood draw. Charges are pending. Read more
