Police cleared 75 criminal offenses, making 65 arrests. Troopers responded to 123 crashes, two fatal, involving 19 injuries. Police investigated 20 hit-and-run crashes, two fatal, and made 28 DUI arrests while responding to 10 DUI-related crashes, two fatal. Troopers issued 575 traffic citations and 647 warnings. State police at Kiski Valley report no one was injured when a 2008 Subaru Legacy driven by a 16-year-old Greensburg boy entered Route 819 in Salem Township from a stopped position at the stop sign on Trees Mills Road then stopped again and was struck by a 2008 Mack truck driven by Robert W. State police at Greensburg said one person was possibly injured during a three-vehicle crash around 5:57 p.m. April 23 along Route 30 in Hempfield Township. Police said as a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Benjamin Irvin, 23, of Derry was approaching the intersection of Marwood Forest Road, Irvin took his eyes off the road and struck the rear end of a 2013 Honda Pilot driven by Deborah Gaab, 65, North Huntingdon, which continued forward and struck the rear end of a 2017 Subaru Impreza driven by Bryan M. Watson, 34, of Greensburg. A 7-year-old passenger in the Subaru was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital for head pain. Read more

State police at Kiski Valley report no one was injured when a 2018 Ford Explorer driven along Route 981 in Derry Township by Hazel L. Braun, 60, of Export hit a deer in the road way around 9:35 p.m. April 20. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Read more

State police at Kiski Valley report a 41-year-old Greensburg said he was told he had a warrant from the FBI in Texas and was advised to pay his restitution via gift cards totaling $2,200 from Target and Walmart around 8 a.m. April 12 in Salem Township. The incident was determined to be a scam. Read more

State police at Greensburg report troopers received a report of found property in the 100 block of Kingston Street in Unity Township around 7:52 a.m. April 18. Police found “numerous female items in various handbags” that were recovered. Troopers said identifiable property was returned, while remaining items recovered on scene were later secured by state police. State police at Greensburg report members of the Greensburg barracks conducted more than 171 domestic security checks at various houses of worship, churches, synagogues and temples throughout municipalities in its coverage area. This effort was in conjunction with Passover and Easter celebrations and helped to serve as a deterrent to any possible criminal acts during Holy Week. Police said members of the Greensburg barracks actively engaged citizens in attendance at their various church and worship services, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response. Members were invited to various future functions, played with Sunday school students, addressed issues of safety concerns to parishioners and assured citizens that the Pennsylvania State Police is always here to serve them in any capacity it can. State police at Greensburg report no one was injured when a 2007 Honda CRV driven by a 17-year-old Jeannette girl in the right lane along Route 30 eastbound in Hempfield Township veered into the left lane and struck a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Spencer G. Mellinger, 39, of Jeannette around 7:39 p.m. Tuesday, March 30. Police said the 17-year-old was believed to have suffered from an anxiety attack. Read more

Black was the victim.) State police at Kiski Valley report Robert Rockwell, 78, of Bradenville was cited for disorderly conduct after troopers responded around 3:07 p.m. March 16 to Candice Drive in Derry Township for a neighbor dispute. Police said Rockwell moved a mailbox belonging to 80-year-old Norman Black of Bradenville. Police said Rockwell swore and called Black a derogatory comment. Read more

State police at Indiana report a 26-year-old Indiana man was arrested after police conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Chrysler 200 and found the driver to be under the influence of drugs and with a suspended license in the area of Oakland and Fisher avenues in Indiana around 5:42 p.m. March 16. State police at Indiana report two men are accused of stealing three 10-packs of Fireball whiskey from a Sheetz store at 610 Route 22 in Burrell Township around 10:12 p.m. March 3. Police said the men fled the scene heading west on Route 22 in a black Chrysler 300 with tinted windows and black rims. Police said the passenger, a Black man wearing a black coat, with a thick fur collar, pink baseball cap, white glasses and carrying a silver cane, entered the store two separate times, removing one to two packs each time. The driver of the vehicle was a Black man wearing a fur coat with a black man-bun hairstyle. Read more

State police at Greensburg report Gregory Gromley, 33, of Greensburg was arrested after troopers responded around 7:03 p.m. March 8 to a residence on Clawson Avenue in Hempfield Township for a domestic disturbance in progress involving a 32-year-old Greensburg woman. Police said the incident was ongoing when troopers arrived, and Gromley resisted arrest. Gromley was transported to Westmoreland County Prison to await arraignment. Read more

State police at Indiana report Amanda Randall, 37, and Shane Randall, 36, both of Seward, were accused of endangering the welfare of a child after troopers responded to a report of a shoeless/jacketless 15-year-old boy walking along Route 56 in East Wheatfield Township in 19 degree weather around 10:29 p.m. Thursday, March 4. Police said the boy arrived at a local gas station and troopers were summoned. Upon arrival, police learned that the child’s parents abandoned him after an argument in their vehicle. Read more

State police Kiski Valley report Anna M. McCuch, 26, of Saltsburg suffered a suspected minor injury during a two-vehicle crash on Route 22 in Salem Township around 7:58 p.m. Feb. 25. Police said an eastbound 2017 Chevrolet Trax driven by McCuch on Route 22 was stopped in the right lane when a 2009 Hyundai Accent driven by Kevin J. Rose, 32, of New Florence failed to slow down for traffic stopped at a red light and swerved into the right lane and struck the Chevrolet as it was attempting to leave the roadway. Mutual Aid EMS, Barry Kelley’s Township and Trooper Joshua Abernathy assisted state police on scene. Rose was cited for careless driving. Read more

State police at Greensburg report Mitchell Kronen, 33, of Jeannette was arrested following a hit and run on Route 30 and Lowry Way around 4:28 a.m. Oct. 4. Police said Kronen, the operator of the hit and run vehicle, was found to be heavily intoxicated. He was taken into custody and denied a chemical blood test. Criminal charges are pending. Read more

State police at Kiski Valley report a 33-year-old Latrobe woman was arrested after state police and fugitive task force members made contact with her on Walnut Drive in Derry Township and took her into custody without incident around 9:51 a.m. Feb. 3. Police say “numerous immediately recognizable drugs and drug paraphernalia” were viewed throughout the residence and, after a search warrant was obtained, seized by police. Charges are to be filed. Leonard, 52, of Latrobe suffered a minor injury when the 2013 Ford Focus he was driving westbound on Greenfield Road in Derry Township left the roadway while attempting to make a left curve and struck a utility pole around 8:36 p.m. Jan. 28. State police at Greensburg report a 16-year-old Mifflintown boy was arrested following an assault which occurred at the Outside In School on Hamill School Road in Fairfield Township around 5 p.m. Jan. 17. Police discovered the boy assaulted and caused minor injury to two staff members. Charges have been filed with the Westmoreland County Juvenile Court. Read more

State police at Greensburg report a 58-year-old Greensburg man was arrested for violating a protection from abuse (PFA) order against a 53-year-old Grapeville woman around 1:24 a.m. Jan. 26. Troopers were dispatched to Fitzpatrick Street in Hempfield Township for a reported PFA violation. The man fled the scene upon police arrival but was later taken into custody. Read more

State police at Indiana report an unknown actor took possession of a 33-year-old Blairsville woman’s Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone that was located on a table in the Railhouse Bar on Route 286 in Black Lick Township and fled in an unknown direction around 11 p.m. Jan. 17. Read more

State police at Indiana report troopers responded around 2 p.m. Dec. 20 to a burglary of a 67-year-old New Florence man at a residence on Clay Pike Road in West Wheatfield Township. Several items, including two chainsaws, wood planer, air conditioner and radio, valued at $1,050 total, were stolen from a locked garage, according to police. The investigation continues. Read more

State police at Greensburg report troopers responded to Lenhart Avenue in Hempfield Township around 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, for a report of a missing juvenile. Upon arrival it was discovered the juvenile had autism and other medical diagnoses. The juvenile was located by police around 3:50 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, after wandering from the residence. Read more

Latrobe police report Nicole Osborne, 38, of Latrobe was arrested for simple assault and harassment after verbal contact with Duane Shaffer, 53, of Latrobe became physical on Main Street in Latrobe around 8:33 p.m. Jan. 18. Police say Shaffer reported minor injuries. Osborne was arraigned and is being held in prison on $20,000 cash bond. Read more
