State police at Indiana report Tim H. Wilt, 74, of New Florence suffered a suspected minor injury when the 2009 Subaru Outback he was driving north on Route 56 in Brush Valley Township left the roadway near its intersection with Valley View Road and struck a utility pole around 3:31 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. Wilt was transported by Citizens’ Ambulance Service, police said, and was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.

State police at Kiski Valley report troopers received a report on Oct. 15 that someone stole a 36-year-old New Alexandria woman’s EBT/Access benefits card and unauthorized purchases totaling $500 were made at two local stores in Derry Township.

State police at Kiski Valley report troopers made contact with a man in the parking lot of the Sheetz store in Derry Township at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, and determined he was under the influence of alcohol and in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Charges are pending.

State police at Indiana report a 16-year-old Homer City girl was charged with assaulting four state troopers, a 26-year-old woman and three men, ages 29, 46 and 50, while she was in their custody at a location on Fenton Road in White Township around 6:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11. The state police Indiana station is located on Fenton Road. The girl was arrested, charged and placed in a juvenile facility as the investigation continues, according to police.

Latrobe police report Amber Simms, 26, of Latrobe was arrested for suspicion of DUI after police performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Simms was driving near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Josephine Street for allegedly driving without headlights turned on Sept. 29.

State police at Kiski Valley report Joseph Shandel, 34, of Derry was arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting a 47-year-old Derry man during an altercation around 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Taps N’ At Bar on N. Bank Street in Derry Township.

State police at Indiana report no one was injured when a 2009 Saturn Vue driven north on Route 119 in White Township struck a deer near Lutz School Road at 7:26 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7.

State police at Kiski Valley report troopers are investigating after an 8-year-old Bradenville boy was allegedly attacked by a neighbor’s dog around 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 on 11th Street in Derry Township and suffered lacerations from a bite to his back.

State police at Greensburg report at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 16 at a residence along Academy Lane, Mount Pleasant Township, Amanda Baker, 38, of Southwest stated that she got into a verbal argument with her boyfriend, David Knopp, 43, also of Southwest. Baker told police that during the argument Knopp began acting out of control, punching out a window at the home. Police said he then went outside, grabbed a metal pipe and began smashing Baker, his car and an electrical box with the instrument. Police said Baker attempted to stop Knopp when he struck her with the metal pipe on her left forearm, which caused a contusion. Knopp was arrested by state police and is facing charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. A preliminary hearing was scheduled Thursday, Oct. 3, before Magisterial District Judge Roger Eckels.

State police at Greensburg report between Sept. 19 and 22, a 53-year-old man reported that tree brush was dumped on property he manages along Wimmerton Boulevard in Unity Township.

State police at Kiski Valley report Joseph James Kuznicki III, 38, was charged with DUI following a traffic stop along Route 22 in Derry Township for alleged traffic violations at 2:16 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.

State police at Kiski Valley report a known suspect used a counterfeit $100 bill to make a purchase at the Sheetz store in New Alexandria around 8:21 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, and fled the scene. Police are continuing to investigate.

State police at Kiski Valley report troopers responded to a home on Ligonier Street in Derry Township around 7:38 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, after a 17-year-old girl allegedly attempted to harm herself. Police are continuing to investigate.

State police at Indiana report sometime between Sept. 5 and Sept. 17, someone broke into a locked toolbox on a pickup truck owned by New Pig Energy that was parked in the parking lot of Tri-Star Motors along Route 22 in Burrell Township and stole a DeWalt impact/drill/saw kit valued at $350, an EU2000 Honda generator valued at $1,100; a VM-20 Demtech plastic welder valued at $6,600 and a BAK hot air gun valued at $400, and damaged the silver Weather Guard toolbox valued at $1,000.

State police at Indiana report troopers are investigating after a 15-year-old Burrell Township girl received multiple harassing messages through Instagram messenger in which the person sending the messages threatened to harm another individual if their demands were not met. State police at Kiski Valley report a 54-year-old Latrobe man was accused of possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called to 2138 Lincoln Ave. in Derry Township around 8:43 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, to respond to a reported domestic dispute and discovered drug paraphernalia while conducting interviews at the scene. Charges are pending.

State police at Kiski Valley report troopers are investigating a four-vehicle crash that occurred near the intersection of Route 22 West and Rushwood Road in Derry Township at 3:12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16. According to police, the crash involved two commercial vehicles and two pickup trucks. Both occupants of one of the vehicles were transported to Allegheny Health Network Forbes Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Investigation into the crash continues, and anyone with information regarding the crash should contact police at 724-697-5780.

State police at Kiski Valley report between 4 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, someone forcibly entered an apartment on School Street Extension in Derry Township through the front door, damaging a door jamb valued at $50, and stole about $40 and a checkbook. Police are continuing to investigate.

State police at Indiana report no one was injured when a 2006 dump truck driven by Anthony G. DeMatteis, 45, of Portage was traveling with a raised bed and snagged power lines, ripping them from a utility pole on Old William Penn Highway just west of Club Lane in Burrell Township, at 6:12 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

State police at Kiski Valley report someone rummaged through an unlocked vehicle overnight between Wednesday, Sept. 4, and Thursday, Sept. 5, on Main Street in New Alexandria Borough. No items of value were taken, according to police.

Latrobe police report Ethan Jones, 20, of Unity Township was arrested for suspicion of DUI after the vehicle he was driving struck a wall and a utility pole in the 10 block of Ligonier Street in Latrobe on Monday, Sept. 2. No injuries were reported.

State police at Kiski Valley report a 50-year-old Clarksburg man and a 36-year-old Saltsburg woman were arrested for simple assault and harassment following an alleged domestic incident at 304 Loyalhanna Dam Road in Loyalhanna Township around 2:49 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1.

Latrobe police report Edward L. Apone, 47, of Latrobe was arrested for suspicion of DUI following a traffic stop on the vehicle he was driving on the 1700 block of Lincoln Avenue in Latrobe around 9:24 p.m. Aug. 19.

State police at Kiski Valley report two employees at the Beehive Showbar in Salem Township, Christina Ciampanelli of Salem Township and Ashley Frye of Latrobe, were accused of harassment and disorderly conduct after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with one another on Saturday, Aug. 24.

State police at Kiski Valley report a 22-year-old Export man identified as B. Lowe was charged with theft after allegedly stealing gasoline from a home on the 700 block of Story Road in Salem Township around 11:24 p.m. Aug. 2. According to police, the alleged theft was caught by security cameras and Lowe admitted to taking the gas.

State police at Indiana report Shawn K. Battistelli was cited for control of alarm devices and automatic dialing devices after an alarm system at a property on Sportsman Road in Conemaugh Township had false alarms on May 18, July 3, Aug. 1 and Aug. 11.

Latrobe police report Diane S. Stewart, 50, of Latrobe was cited for public drunkenness after police were called to Excela Health Latrobe Hospital to assist with a highly intoxicated woman allegedly attempting to punch hospital staff on Saturday, Aug. 17.

State police at Greensburg report no one was injured when a 2013 Mack Trucks 600 driven by Rashawn D. Ford, 32, of Philadelphia was turning from Route 982 to Route 130 in Unity Township and left the south side of the roadway, driving directly over a concrete stormwater culvert, causing the concrete to break off and damaging the truck’s trailer at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.

State police at Kiski Valley report Nicholas Michael Hill, 29, and Christina Marie Ciampanelli, 33, both of Salem Township, are accused of simple assault and harassment after allegedly engaging in a physical altercation with each other Tuesday, Aug. 13, on Little Acres Lane in Salem Township.

State police at Indiana report no one was injured when a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven north on Route 954 in Brush Valley Township by Shirley M. Bugay, 32, of Seward lost its front passenger-side wheel while rounding a downhill left curve in the roadway near Snyder Road at 10:18 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.

State police at Kiski Valley report charges of DUI, drug possession and traffic offenses are pending against an unnamed woman after troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle she was driving on Route 286 West near its intersection with Dogwood Drive in Loyalhanna Township at 9:32 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. According to police, the woman was impaired and incapable of safe driving, and police found her in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

State police at Greensburg report no one was injured when a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Anthony F. Troy, 64, of Jeannette, struck an unattended 2019 Nissan Versa as he “carelessly attempted to park” next to it in the parking lot of the Walmart store in Greengate Centre Plaza at 12:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, and pulled through the adjacent parking space.

State police at Greensburg report James R. Frantz, 66, was accused of DUI after troopers were dispatched to reports of an erratic driver on the 3800 block of Route 30 West in Unity Township between 9 and 9:42 a.m. July 21.

State police at Greensburg report between 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, and 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, someone broke into the Rocky Mountain Kayaks business along Arona Road in New Stanton and stole money from the cash drawer.

State police at Indiana report at 7:42 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, that a 43-year-old Clarksburg woman and a 35-year-old Saltsburg man were found in a home along Ash Way in Saltsburg Borough, Indiana County, and indicated that they planned to stay overnight without permission. Both were arrested for criminal trespassing and placed in the Indiana County Jail.

State police at Greensburg report at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, that TACET members uncovered approximately 50 bricks of heroin and a stolen Springfield XD .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun from a 2010 Nissan Altima driven by Khasuante S. Thompson, 24, of Penn Hills during a traffic stop along Interstate 70 at Route 119 in Hempfield Township. Police said the drugs and handgun were found in the roof liner of Thompson’s vehicle; a convicted felon, authorities said he is not permitted to carry or possess a firearm. Police said the drugs, labeled “Blue Fish,” were the equivalent of 2,500 stamp bags. Thompson is facing drugs and firearms charges and is being held in Westmoreland County Prison. Online court documents detailing the charges were unavailable at presstime.
