State police at Greensburg report Sonya Zeunges, 47, of Latrobe was arrested after she was allegedly found unresponsive with a needle in her arm following a one-vehicle crash on 5th Avenue in Unity Township around 1:29 p.m. Jan. 10. According to police, Zeunges admitted to using heroin before driving her vehicle and showed signs of impairment.
State police at Greensburg report David Croyle, 42, of Seward was accused of harassment, disorderly conduct and trespassing after allegedly driving a 2007 Jeep Cherokee into the back yard of a home along 9th Street in Seward around 9:40 p.m. Jan. 8 and verbally harassing a 39-year-old Seward man. According to police, the incident was captured on surveillance video. Charges are pending.
State police at Greensburg report someone cut the lock to a shipping container near the Route 66 Business and Route 119 interchange in New Stanton around 9:33 a.m. Jan. 6 and stole a Bomag Industrial Jump Jack Tamper valued at $1,000. Police believe the padlock on the shipping container, valued at $50, was cut using a handheld angle grinder and the tamper was loaded into an unknown vehicle for transport away from the scene. State police at Greensburg report Charles J. Beiter, 33, of Delmont was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into a home and garage in Mount Pleasant Township around 5:56 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. According to police, a resident at a home along Route 819 in Mount Pleasant Township discovered Beiter attempting to break into the home and, after being confronted, Beiter claimed he was a firefighter on duty and tried to break into a detached garage at the property before fleeing the scene. Police were able to identify Beiter through home surveillance video that showed Beiter wearing firefighter apparel and driving a silver Mitsubishi SUV. While police were searching the area, someone at a nearby home called police to report a man stealing items from their car. Police said Beiter fled that scene before police arrived, and it was discovered he was streaming his actions on Facebook Live. Police eventually took Beiter into custody without incident. He was charged with two counts of criminal attempted burglary, three counts of defiant trespassing, two counts of loitering and prowling at night, and single counts of criminal attempted theft from a motor vehicle, impersonating a public servant and public drunkenness.
State police at Indiana report Zachary Adam Liscsak, 17, of Blairsville, whom troopers were attempting to locate after he was reported as a runaway, was located and found to be safe on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
State police at Greensburg report no one was injured when a 2000 Ford F-250 driven east on Route 30 in Hempfield Township by Brendan D. DiDiano, 28, of Bethel Park lost control due to icy conditions on the bridge at Route 30 and W. Pittsburgh Street around 7:14 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, and struck a guide rail.
State police at Greensburg report John Owens, 22, of Greensburg was charged with strangulation, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment after an alleged altercation with his father, 42, over the animated movie “My Hero,” around 6:57 a.m. Dec. 30 at a home on Cemetery Road in Unity Township. Owens was arraigned Dec. 30 and ordered held in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond awaiting a Jan. 13 preliminary hearing.
Latrobe police report between Dec. 25 and Dec. 28, someone spray painted graffiti on the side of the building that houses Latrobe VFD Free Service Fire Unit No. 6 at 320 Lloyd Ave. in Latrobe.
State police at Greensburg report between 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, and 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, someone broke into a business on Garden Street in Hempfield Township and stole a green DeWalt laser valued at $600, a Milwaukee battery band saw valued at $400, a Milwaukee corded band saw valued at $300 and a 400-foot roll of green coated 3 AWG copper wire valued at $3,500 before fleeing the scene. State police at Greensburg report Scott Bunner, 53, of Greensburg was accused of DUI and drug possession after police allegedly determined he showed signs of impairment and located drugs and drug paraphernalia while searching the Dodge Caravan Bunner was driving following a traffic stop for traffic violations near the intersection of Buckeye Street and Carbon Road in Hempfield Township around 2:20 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27. Charges are pending.
State police at Greensburg report no one was injured when the undercarriage of a 2003 Ford Taurus was damaged after the vehicle struck the metal base of a sign in a parking lot off Route 119 in Hempfield Township near Scooby’s Pub around 3:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21. The sign has been previously removed, according to police.
Latrobe police report Ron Scott Grounder, 53, of Unity Township was arrested for suspicion of DUI following a traffic stop Dec. 1, on Ligonier Street near its intersection with Miller Street in Latrobe after police spotted the vehicle Grounder was driving without headlights on.
State police at Kiski Valley report troopers responded to investigate the death of Robin Szalanczy, 62, of New Alexandria at a home at 131 Longs Plan Road in Salem Township around 10:21 p.m. Dec. 12. Cause of death is pending toxicology test results, police said.
State police at Kiski Valley report a 25-year-old Greensburg man and a 26-year-old New Alexandria man were arrested after an alleged domestic incident at a home on Washington Street in New Alexandria turned physical at 3:42 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.
