State police at Kiski Valley report John Truxal, 47, of Latrobe was arrested after troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2003 Ford Escape and found a small amount of cocaine and marijuana around 10:05 p.m. July 1 along Depot Street and Latrobe-Derry Road in Latrobe. State police at Kiski Valley report troopers investigated a criminal mischief report in which a 72-year-old Latrobe man is accused of covering a vent pipe at a Latrobe Municipal Authority (LMA) pump station on Sunview Circle in Derry Township around 1:58 p.m. June 28. Police said the act caused the blower to overheat and malfunction. This investigation continues. Read more

The Laurel Highlands DUI Task Force will be conducting enforcement patrols from July 1 through July 5 as part of the Fourth of July enforcement period. These enforcement patrols will include a stationary sobriety checkpoint and roving patrols — all in Westmoreland County. Read more

State police at Indiana report troopers were dispatched around 8:16 p.m. June 22 to Route 22 in Burrell Township for a domestic violence call in which a 32-year-old Blairsville man allegedly struck a 34-year-old Blairsville woman in the face, causing an injury. The man was arrested and transported to Indiana County Jail to await arraignment. This investigation is ongoing. Read more

State police at Greensburg report Jesse R. Hornbeck, 33, of Hopwood was flown to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of suspected serious injuries after he was involved in a motorcycle crash around 4:45 p.m. May 22 along Route 119 in Hempfield Township. Police said Hornbeck was traveling northbound behind two friends also on motorcycles when he passed them in the right lane. When he re-entered the left lane, he lost traction with his rear wheel, hit the center concrete barrier and fell off the motorcycle, sliding approximately 20 feet before coming to final rest. State police at Greensburg report George Staley, 52, of Greensburg was stopped for a traffic violation around 3:33 p.m. May 12 along South Main and Chestnut streets in Southwest Greensburg, and troopers discovered Staley’s driver’s license was DUI suspended. Further records revealed Staley had two prior convictions and one pending charge. Charges were later filed through the office of Magisterial District Justice Anthony Bompiani. Read more

State police at Greensburg report troopers responded around 8:40 p.m. April 27 to Briarcliff Road in Unity Township for a request for assistance. Upon arrival, EMS had already loaded the involved party into the ambulance and were ready to begin transport. EMS related that the involved party took more than 60 sleeping pills in an attempted suicide. EMS related that state police were no longer needed. Read more

State police at Kiski Valley report no one was injured when an undisclosed motorist driving an eastbound 2016 Nissan Rogue along Story Road in Salem Township encountered a dog in the middle of the travel lane, swerved to prevent striking the animal and struck a boulder on the roadside embankment around 5:49 p.m. May 9. State police at Greensburg report Gary English, 64, of Pittsburgh was accused of stealing multiple campaign signs for several Republican candidates valued at nearly $2,500 throughout eastern Westmoreland County around 6:21 p.m. April 5 along Rocky Mountain Court and Mount Ranier Drive in Unity Township. The witnesses of the incident were able to provide troopers with pictures of English and his vehicle. Police said no specific candidates were targeted. Read more

State police at Greensburg report troopers from the station responded to 2,058 incidents in the month of April. Of the 270 criminal offenses reported, 269 were determined to be founded. Police cleared 75 criminal offenses, making 65 arrests. Troopers responded to 123 crashes, two fatal, involving 19 injuries. Police investigated 20 hit-and-run crashes, two fatal, and made 28 DUI arrests while responding to 10 DUI-related crashes, two fatal. Troopers issued 575 traffic citations and 647 warnings. Police said as a 2000 Ford Ranger driven by Benjamin Irvin, 23, of Derry was approaching the intersection of Marwood Forest Road, Irvin took his eyes off the road and struck the rear end of a 2013 Honda Pilot driven by Deborah Gaab, 65, North Huntingdon, which continued forward and struck the rear end of a 2017 Subaru Impreza driven by Bryan M. Watson, 34, of Greensburg. A 7-year-old passenger in the Subaru was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital for head pain. Read more

State police at Greensburg report troopers received a report of found property in the 100 block of Kingston Street in Unity Township around 7:52 a.m. April 18. Police found “numerous female items in various handbags” that were recovered. Troopers said identifiable property was returned, while remaining items recovered on scene were later secured by state police. State police at Greensburg report members of the Greensburg barracks conducted more than 171 domestic security checks at various houses of worship, churches, synagogues and temples throughout municipalities in its coverage area. This effort was in conjunction with Passover and Easter celebrations and helped to serve as a deterrent to any possible criminal acts during Holy Week. Police said members of the Greensburg barracks actively engaged citizens in attendance at their various church and worship services, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response. Members were invited to various future functions, played with Sunday school students, addressed issues of safety concerns to parishioners and assured citizens that the Pennsylvania State Police is always here to serve them in any capacity it can. Police said Rockwell moved a mailbox belonging to 80-year-old Norman Black of Bradenville. Police said Rockwell swore and called Black a derogatory comment. Read more

State police at Indiana report two men are accused of stealing three 10-packs of Fireball whiskey from a Sheetz store at 610 Route 22 in Burrell Township around 10:12 p.m. March 3. Police said the men fled the scene heading west on Route 22 in a black Chrysler 300 with tinted windows and black rims. Police said the passenger, a Black man wearing a black coat, with a thick fur collar, pink baseball cap, white glasses and carrying a silver cane, entered the store two separate times, removing one to two packs each time. The driver of the vehicle was a Black man wearing a fur coat with a black man-bun hairstyle. Read more

State police at Greensburg report Gregory Gromley, 33, of Greensburg was arrested after troopers responded around 7:03 p.m. March 8 to a residence on Clawson Avenue in Hempfield Township for a domestic disturbance in progress involving a 32-year-old Greensburg woman. State police at Indiana report Amanda Randall, 37, and Shane Randall, 36, both of Seward, were accused of endangering the welfare of a child after troopers responded to a report of a shoeless/jacketless 15-year-old boy walking along Route 56 in East Wheatfield Township in 19 degree weather around 10:29 p.m. Thursday, March 4. Police said the boy arrived at a local gas station and troopers were summoned. Upon arrival, police learned that the child’s parents abandoned him after an argument in their vehicle. Read more
