A South Mahoning Township man was killed Monday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Route 119 in northern Indiana County.

William R. Burkett, 69, was traveling south on Route 119 Monday in North Mahoning Township when the 2003 Nissan Xterra he was driving crossed the center lines and struck a 2006 Dodge Ram, according to Indiana County Coroner Jerry L. Overman Jr.

Burkett, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was entrapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. Overman pronounced Burkett dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma at 6:12 p.m.

Firefighters from Rossiter, Lindsey and Perry Township fire departments responded to the crash, along with Jefferson EMS and state police.

A funeral home had not been selected, according to the coroner’s report.
