Blairsville’s Knotweed Festival scheduled Aug. 10

Volunteers (front row) Carol Persichetti, Damien Boudreaux, Mary Piper, (second row) Bill McAtee, Georgeann Palek, Judy McAtee and Dean Tripodis are getting ready for the 2019 Knotweed Festival on Aug. 10 in downtown Blairsville. The annual event, located between the bandstand and the Riverfront Trail, is a volunteer-organized event and is paid for via numerous sponsors. This year’s festival will feature a new children’s Playland area with games for all age groups, while featured activities include a kayak raffle, duck race, bounce houses, climbing wall and more. The event will also have numerous food vendors. The day will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K walk/run, followed by a parade at 10:30 a.m.
