A Catholic priest in Latrobe is in quarantine after testing positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Diocese of Greensburg announced Wednesday.

The diocese received confirmation just after 1 p.m. Wednesday that the Very Rev. Daniel Mahoney, pastor of Holy Family Church at 1200 Ligonier St., tested positive for coronavirus, according to the announcement.

Mahoney “is in quarantine with symptoms including loss of appetite and nausea but is expected to make a full recovery,” the diocese said in a news release.

“Father Mahoney has not come into contact with parishioners at Mass since Tuesday, March 17, when the Diocese of Greensburg suspended public Masses,” according to the news release provided by the diocese. “His symptoms began two days later. Staff was notified immediately upon diocesan confirmation of the diagnosis and each has been asked to self-quarantine.”
