LUMC distributes meals to community amid pandemic

Latrobe United Methodist Church lunch coordinator Lorraine Allman gives one of the church’s free lunch bags to Scott Kerr on Wednesday. Scott drove through on his electric vehicle from the high-rise on Jefferson Street. For the past several years, Allman and a group of church members have been providing outdoor hot dog free lunches on Wednesdays during the summer. As the coronavirus pandemic became widespread, the group decided to continue the free lunches during this time of need. Last week, the Latrobe United Methodist Church group provided 183 bagged lunches Wednesday at the Latrobe campus and 110 lunches at the New Derry campus on Thursday. The Wednesday lunches are available as a drive-thru service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the Ridge Avenue side of the Latrobe campus and the same time at the New Derry campus along Route 982 on Thursday.
